Aitihasik ("we", "our", or "the App") is a cultural heritage platform that helps users explore ancient temples, inscriptions, and artifacts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and website.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and a unique user identifier. This information is used solely to maintain your account and personalise your experience.
Photos & Camera
When you use the scanner feature, photos you capture are sent to our AI analysis service to identify temple artifacts and inscriptions. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after analysis is complete.
Location Data
With your permission, we collect coarse location data to show nearby temples on the map and provide relevant pilgrimage information. We do not track your precise GPS coordinates continuously. Location data is not linked to your identity.
Usage Data
We collect anonymous analytics about which screens you visit and features you use. This data helps us improve the app and is not linked to your personal identity.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain your account
- To analyse photos of temple artifacts and inscriptions
- To show nearby temples and heritage sites on the map
- To save your favourites, visited temples, and quiz progress
- To improve app features and fix bugs
- To send important service updates (never marketing emails)
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow industry-standard security practices including Firebase Security Rules, server-side authentication verification, and HTTPS-only communication.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, database, and analytics
- Google Gemini AI — Artifact and inscription analysis
- Pinecone — Vector search for finding similar artifacts
- Expo / EAS — App build and update delivery
Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.
Tracking & Advertising
Aitihasik does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers, sell your data, or display third-party advertisements.
Your Rights
- Access & Export: You can view all your data in the Profile section of the app.
- Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Opt-out: You can revoke camera and location permissions at any time through your device settings.
Children's Privacy
Aitihasik is designed for general audiences interested in cultural heritage. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Your continued use of Aitihasik after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
